At long last, it’s Episode 6, affectionately named, “how u?”–complete with even more tangential discussion! In this show, we talk about:

  • Amare Stoudemire’s new nickname;
  • More Paul Allen WTFery;
  • Luke Walton’s coaching internship;
  • Our limited understanding of the nuances of the conventions of collective bargaining negotiations;
  • Mookie’s failure to thoroughly investigate the Patty Mills hair situation; and
  • Many, many random tangents.

P.S. Please right-click and download, rather than streaming, when possible–our bandwidth thanks you.

P.P.P.S Episode notes will be up soon (we know, we know… we missed posting the last show’s notes).

Welcome to the very first episode of The Postcript–a podcast about basketball, culture and other important (and not so important) things. We’ve been talking about producing a podcast together for ages and ages and are thrilled to finally get it up and running. In this episode, we discuss:

  • The origin of the name, “The Postscript” and why everyone needs to consider postscripting more often;
  • Why perceived injustice prompted Mookie to become a Trail Blazers fan as a kid, despite limited access to games in 1990s Sydney, Australia;
  • How the NBL (the Australian pro hoops league) is benefiting from the NBA lockout;
  • Whether or not Eddie Gill knows that Townsville is nowhere near Sydney;
  • Lockout idiocy and Mookie’s pitch to the league to install him as Auditor;
  • The ridiculousness of Aussie Rules Football Uniforms; and
  • The Rugby World Cup and Sarah’s frustration with being unable to see most of the matches.

Being our first episode, we truly appreciate you listening and look forward to your feedback. You can contact us via our contact page or on Facebook. We are in the somewhat lengthy process of getting the podcast fed into iTunes, at which time you’ll be able to subscribe, ensuring you never miss an episode! [Edit: We've been accepted into iTunes. Subscribe here!] We’re still working out our production schedule, so at the moment, check this site or A Stern Warning, for the latest episode.

P.S. Please right-click to download the podcast, rather than streaming, when possible.

P.P.S. Apparently the college shot clock is 35 seconds, not 45 seconds as Mookie stated, nor seven minutes as Sarah stated.

P.P.P.S. The current (9/14/2011) AUD to USD conversion rate is $1 to $1.023.

P.P.P.P.S. Check out the Episode Notes for links and information referenced in the show.

P.P.P.P.P.S Thanks to co-producer Josh for all his help in getting this first show out of our heads and into reality.
